Naruto Uzumaki: The Boy Who Became Hokage

Naruto is born a jinchūriki, sealed with Kurama, the Nine-Tails, on the night of his birth. For years that chakra is an unstable, borrowed power — usable only in flashes of danger and carrying real risk of losing control. What sets Naruto apart from every jinchūriki before him is not raw chakra volume but his refusal to treat Kurama as a weapon to be exploited.

By genuinely earning Kurama's trust rather than forcing its power out, Naruto turns a dangerous, adversarial seal into a willing partnership. That partnership becomes the foundation for every major power-up in his later story — access that no earlier host, forced into fear and hostility with their own beast, was ever able to unlock.

The Rasengan, taught to Naruto by Jiraiya, is a spinning sphere of pure chakra shape manipulation with no elemental nature added — deceptively simple, brutally destructive, and the closest thing Naruto has to a signature move for most of the story. It is also, fittingly, the same technique Naruto's own father Minato Namikaze invented.

Naruto pushes the technique further than anyone expected by adding Wind Release nature transformation to create the Rasenshuriken, a technique so powerful its early versions damage his own arm on use. Later, drawing on Six Paths Sage Mode, he channels the Rasengan through Truth-Seeking Balls and Tailed Beast chakra simultaneously, turning his signature jutsu into a scalable weapon that grows with every stage of his power.

During the Fourth Shinobi War, Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki — the Sage of Six Paths himself — grants Naruto and Sasuke a portion of his own chakra, unlocking Six Paths Sage Mode. The transformation grants Truth-Seeking Balls, near-instantaneous wound healing, sensory range across the entire battlefield, and the ability to share chakra with allies across vast distances.

Combined with Kurama's full chakra in Tailed Beast Mode, this state makes Naruto one of the few shinobi in history capable of standing toe-to-toe with an Ōtsutsuki-tier threat, and it is instrumental in the final battles against Obito Uchiha, Madara Uchiha, and Kaguya Ōtsutsuki.

Naruto could have spent his life resenting Konohagakure for the isolation he suffered growing up as its jinchūriki. Instead, he holds onto a single, stubborn dream from childhood: to become Hokage, so that the entire village would finally have to acknowledge him — and so that no other child would have to grow up as alone as he did.

That dream is never really about personal glory. Naruto's repeated insistence on saving people others have given up on — Gaara, Nagato, even Obito and Sasuke — is the same impulse that eventually earns him the title of Seventh Hokage: a leader who understands what it means to be failed by the very system he now protects, and who is determined to build something kinder in its place.
